Stored Product Insects, or SPI for short, covers a variety of insects from Grain Weevils (Sitophilus granaries) to Biscuit Beetles (Stegobium paniceum) to Indian Meal Moths (Plodia interpunctella)
All of these pests have the ability to survive for long periods of time and feed on cereals, nuts, grains, pulses and other food derivatives. They have the ability to cause catastrophic damage to warehouse stock and food that is stored for long periods of time.
An initial identification would be required before any treatment was carried out but all damaged product would have to be destroyed and disposed of.
